What's this about Conventions?

I attend and staff quite a few conventions. It's one of the ways I take breaks from work and just enjoy meeting up with friends and acquaintances. More than ever, it's important to keep in touch with those you care for, especially as the political climate continues to deteroriate, safety becomes harder to keep and more.

Don't you staff?

Yes... yes, I do. I typically work in the Accessibility department for multiple conventions at various roles, but typically as staff. I do have leadership roles at two conventions. It is stressful, but in my opinion, very much rewarding work.

How'd you get started?

At some point during 2019, I decided to apply as a volunteer for Midwest FurFest. At the time, it turned out that the Accessibility Department for Midwest FurFest was being formed and HR asked me if I wanted to staff for the department, as I knew ASL and could communicate with the deaf, deaf-blind.

I thought about it for a while before I agreed. From there, I learned a lot about working in the Accessibility and advocacy space for disabled individuals and started working with other conventions on improving access to Accessibility.

Future Conventions?

I plan on being at FurryWeekend Atlanta, Las Vegas FurCon, Anthrocon, MegaPlex, AnthroSoCal, GatewayFurMeet and NYFF by FWA.
